      Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode , has urged the federal government to query Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State for his recent media remarks where he allegedly said the opposition would form a parallel government if President Goodluck Jonathan won the 2015 presidential election, saying that such statement amounts to treason.

       Fani-Kayode who made the call Friday in a press conference in Umuahia , Abia State, after his two-day visit to the state also expressed disappointment over the commotion at the National Assembly complex on Thursday, accusing the lawmakers of breaking the law and disgracing the country.  

      “For the first time in the history of our country I saw elected legislators attempting to break down wall, attempting to break down gates. I saw them scaling the gate. I saw some of them in torn clothes, struggling through the police lines, I saw them breaking the law, and I saw them display the highest level of indiscipline and lack of respect for constituted authority.The former Aviation boss said “some public figures may shy away from speaking the truth but I will not, no matter whoever is involved .”

      “Legislators took the law into their own hands. Broke down gates, jumped through the gates, fought the police and created commotion and shameful acts. “If this were to be in any other country particularly America or Uk that for whatever reasons a line was drawn by the police and security agencies, and individuals no matter how high or how much respected or loved chose to defy them and cross the lines, injured some policemen ( because the IG told me on phone this morning that some police men were injured), and they defied the police , went through the tear gas, and ignored the warnings , the police would have been forced to use a very high degree of force.

         He commended security agencies for their maturity in handling the situation, and noted it was a testimony to the fact that the Nigerian police were very restrained to have allowed the lawmakers to cross the lines.Kayodey argued that if the lawmakers were not satisfied with their  being locked out of the national assembly complex by security agencies, they would have rather gone to seek redress in the court than take the laws into their hands.

      “Again when you look at  the comments made by my old friend, Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, I am alarmed, I am deeply disturbed and discouraged. He said that if PDP comes back in 2015 that not only would they make the country ungovernable, they would also set up a parallel government, and that there would be anarchy in this country,” ha said.

Update: Impeachment plot against Jonathan thickens

          What started in the House of Representatives as a plot to immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against President Goodluck Jonathan has spread to the Senate, according to indications.More number of Senators are said to be enthusiastic to team up with the Reps to impeach Jonathan.One hundred and thirty Reps were known to have signed up to support the plot on Thursday, but as at mid day on Friday, the figure had risen up to 148, sources close to the bid told The Nation.Senate sources said yesterday that some senators were inclined to get President Jonathan impeached. 

               The arrow heads of the plot in the Senate are from the Northeast where the President proposes to extend the emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.The arrow heads, one source said, “have been meeting to plan how to convince and win other senators to buy into and support the pro-impeachment lawmakers.”The plot was sparked by impunity by Federal Government, the latest being Thursday’s attack on NASS by policemen who tear-gassed Reps in a bid to deny Speaker Aminu Tambuwal access.

               The source said “things will get clearer by Tuesday 25 when the Senate will resume plenary. I know of a fact that there have been series of clandestine meetings where the plot was mooted.”The senators say Jonathan must go to “save the country from unbridled impunity.” The source described Thursday’s invasion of the National Assembly as “the height of impunity that must not be condoned by right thinking Nigerians.”A South West Senator who spoke on the plot noted that it is obvious “things will no longer be the same in the National Assembly.”

             The Senate leadership is said to be labouring to calm frayed nerves.“Since 1999, this is the first time in the history of democracy that such a thing has happened,” a Rep said of the attack. The motion for Jonathan’s impeachment may be moved as early as December 3rd.

              Flavour is a new dad but it's not something he's comfortable talking about. I've tried to get info from him but he wasn't forthcoming. In an interview with Saturday Punch, Flavour said fatherhood is not something he's comfortable talking about.          On Thursday, the House of Representatives complex in Abuja was besieged with lots of security operatives preventing, the house Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal and lots of other lawmakers’ access into the complex.

           November 6, 2014 was like every other day for 300 level student of Computer Science (names withheld) at the University of Lagos, Akoka Yaba. As the ailing student who managed to attend lectures stepped into her apartment located at Moremi hall, never in her wildest imagination did she envisage she would end up being a victim of rape.

            However, the signal of an imminent emotional and psychological trauma reared up after one Daniel Okereke, a man that had reportedly being wooing her since last month, came visiting. Without any inkling of an apparent sinister motive, the undergraduate was said to have reluctantly left to attend to her visitor,who upon seeing her condition, opted to take her to a pharmaceutical store around Akoka to get some drugs.Not yet done with his show of concern, the visitor reportedly took the female student to an eatery, so that she could eat before taking the drugs. Thereafter, he reportedly took her to his abode at Mende, Mariland where he allegedly ended up raping her.Narrating her ordeal to the police, the student who had marks of strings on her back, hands and legs , narrated how she narrowly escaped being murdered by Okereke, in her bid to free herself from his grips.According to her: 

           “ When he came visiting, I never knew he had something sinister in his mind until we got to his place. At the eatery, he ordered that the food be made take-away and asked me to go eat it in his place and at the same time rest before taking me back to the hostel.Immediately we entered the room, he secured the door and I had supper and later asked to be taken back . But he said he must have sex with me. I tried to appeal to him to consider my state of health and take me back to campus.Before I knew what was happening, he started beating me, forcing to have his way. As if that was not enough, he called in seven guards in the compound who assisted him and tied me down. 

            He thereafter, went into his kitchen and brought out a knife, threatening to kill me if I resisted. He took me to one of the rooms where he brought out a condom and raped me.Crime Guard gathered that when the 23 year-old lady was untied, she went violent and started shattering every property she could lay her hands on. In the process, one of the objects she allegedly threw out of the window, landed on a vehicle belonging to one of the tenants, smashing its windscreen. That attracted neighbours.The case was reported at Area ‘F’ Ikeja , following which Okereke was arrested .

            During interrogation, he reportedly claimed to be nephew of a former Director -General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE and cousin to a front-line Nollywood actress who ironically has a foundation which promotes the well being of women.He was said to have been released on bail, an action the victim frowned out. The case was thereafter transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID Panti, where the 36-year-old Okereke was rearrested.

           He reportedly claimed that the victim destroyed his property , an action that was engendered by the violence meted to her. Okereke was charged to court Thursday.Equally charged was Idris Abubakar, the security guard who allegedly assisted Okereke to tie up the victim.

            They claimed not guilty and were granted bail, while the matter was adjourned till January 9, 2015, for trial.

            Nicolai Vlasenko, 29, returned from the bathroom to find a group of men harassing his wife to get her to join them at their table in a bar.Vlasenko, a professional boxer and martial arts expert, was caught on CCTV knocking out three of the thugs outside a bar in Starokorsunskaya, south-west Russian.The men are said to be part of a local gang which has been blamed for a rise in petty crime in the small Russian town.

     When Vlasenko told the men to leave his wife alone, the self-declared leader, Leonti Yevdokimov, 33, suggested that he might want to continue the discussion outside.'There were at least ten of them, led by the two who thought they were real big shots,' eyewitness Eldar Vinogradoff, 27, said.'One of them took off his shirt and started squaring up to the boxer, and I don't think he even knew what hit him when he went down like a bowling pin. 

        A second man tried to kick the boxer and he was floored instantly as well.'Then a third man joined in, and he was left staggering and on the point of collapsing after taking three blows to the head and not landing once himself.' CCTV cameras outside the bar show how the rest of the group back away after the first three are knocked out cold, instead rushing to the aide of the floored thugs.The gang later then hired a lawyer to file a complaint to the local police that they had been attacked.

         However police have said they are taking no action after the CCTV images showed that the man was clearly acting in self-defence and that he had been on his own against nearly a dozen people who were on the other side.The lawyer for Vlasenko said: 'My client wasn't prepared to allow them to harass his wife.'He was prepared to discuss it in a reasonable manner, but when they resorted to force than he was forced to defend himself with inevitable consequences.'Via.dailymail

Hoodlums kill 4 while chasing police in Lagos

                                                                           

         Four persons were shot dead on Wednesday when some hoodlums went on rampage and shot indiscriminately along the Railway Line in Oyingbo, Lagos.

         Punch  learnt that the hoodlums, who were said to be no fewer than 15, came into the area at about 9.30pm, shooting to scare away shop owners and pedestrians. They were said to have been led by a man, identified as John Ibafo, alias small rainbow.Our correspondent gathered that the gang had earlier fomented trouble on old Apapa Road before storming the area by evening.They reportedly fired shots into the air indiscriminately, while four persons were hit by stray bullets and died instantly.When Punch Metro got to the area on Thursday, it was learnt that one of the deceased, Mr. Musa Garba, was a northerner who worked as a truck driver at the Kanuri Motor Park, Oyingbo.Our correspondent, who saw Garba’s corpse in the park, observed that the bullet entered the left side of his neck. It was gathered that the police from the Iponri division, had earlier came to remove the corpses of other persons who were killed.

        According to some eyewitnesses, the shootings started when the hoodlums, on arrival, sighted two policemen in the area. They subsequently gave them a chase.The witnesses added that one of the officers escaped, while the other fled into the park, removed his uniform, and covered his gun with it. The policeman was said to have hidden among pedestrians in the park while the shootings lasted.One of those who were injured by the bullets, Mr. Yekini Babatunde, told our correspondent that one of the deceased, Garba was replacing a deflated tyre of his truck when the bullet hit him.“We did not know that they were coming inside the park. They were in this area on Tuesday and wreak havoc. But yesterday night, it was the policeman, who ran into our park, that they came after when the bullet hit Garba in the neck.“He bent down and was changing his truck’s deflated tyre. 

         If I had been close to him, I would have been killed too. The bullets brushed my cheek bone and chest. I reported the matter at the Denton Police Division.”Another driver in the park, who gave his name simply as Alhaji Isa, said if Garba’s corpse was taken to Kano where the late driver was travelling to, it could lead to a reprisal on other tribes. He urged the police to put an end to violence in the Oyingbo and Ebute Meta areas.He said, “The cultists had shot two pedestrians dead by the rail line before pursuing one of the policemen into our park. It was while they wanted to get him that Garba was hit. We heard the policemen were from Denton and had been detained.The police know these hoodlums and their godfathers. Why has it become difficult for the hoodlums to be arrested? Innocent people are getting killed every time these boys go on rampage.”On Thursday, our correspondent observed a police van stationed in front of the park, while four officers also patrolled the area.

       The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, while confirming the incident, said three suspects had been arrested by the police. He, however, added that no policeman was being detained.He said, “Two corpses were removed by our men, while three suspected cultists were also arrested. No policeman is being detained by Denton in connection with the case.”

             Iggy Azalea has blasted Eminem for rapping about raping her in the lyrics of a new track, revealing her 14-year-old brother is a huge fan of the Lose Yourself hitmaker. 

             In a leaked snippet from Eminem's new song Vegas, the rapper appears to threaten to rape the Australian star, rhyming, "Put that s**t away Iggy/You don't wanna blow that rape whistle on me/Scream!/I love it/'Fore I get lost with the gettin' off." The Fancy star is far from impressed by the name check, and she has taken to Twitter.com to fire back at Eminem, stating, "im bored of the old men threatening young women as entertainment trend and much more interested in the young women getting $ trend. zzzz (sic)." She added, "its especially akward (sic) because my 14 year old brother is the biggest eminem fan and now the artist he admired says he wants to rape me. nice!" 

          Iggy's feud with Eminem comes just weeks after she and Snoop Dogg fell out when he poked fun at her looks in an online video, during which he made up his face so he looked white. The war of words escalated to him threatening Azalea, by posting, "Say b**ch, you're f**king with the wrong n**ga and your n**ga better check you before I do, you funky b**ch."          Respected news outlet, Gulf News reports that a Saudi Man divorced his wife after she failed to answer his WhatsApp message. The couple had been married for 2 years and recently, the man had complained that his wife spent too much time chatting with friends rather than taking care of their home and child.The final straw came when he sent her a WhatsApp message while he was at work. With the help of WhatsApp’s new feature, he could see that she had read the message but did not reply. 

        He became worried and rushed home from work, only to find her relaxing watching TV and chatting with friends. At that point, he declared that he wanted a divorce.

      The story has gone viral around the Middle East and now worldwide.

Students attack female teacher with machetes in Imo

           

          A team of medical personnel are battling to save the life of Mrs. Mary-Ann Oguezuonu, a female teacher at Obosima Secondary Technical School, Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, who was brutalized by irate male students of the college.Reports emanating from Obosima revealed that the students attacked the nursing mother with machetes.

         According to Vanguard.the teacher’s alleged offence was that she spotted a female student that changed her school uniform into a skimpy outfit and threatened that the college authorities would send her packing if she wore such an indecent dress to school again.It was also gathered that while Mrs. Oguezuonu was cautioning the JSS2 student, a male SS1 student jumped into the classroom and rudely confronted the teacher on why she was embarrassing the female student.“The male student, who was not satisfied with the verbal insults he heaped on the teacher, went further to grab Mrs. Oguezuonu’s blouse,” a student told Vanguard.

         The student recalled that the ensuing noise attracted other teachers to the class and the offending student was dragged to the staff room where he was flogged.Another teacher told Vanguard: “While still cuddling her five-month old baby in the staff room, the irate male student mobilized others, suspected to be fellow cult members.

       They came into the staff room, armed with cutlasses and attacked the teacher.”When contacted, the teacher’s relation, Mr. Francis Moore, confirmed the story and pointed out that the matter had been reported to the police.“The matter has been reported to the police and some arrests have been made, but the main suspect, Chimaobi Precious Agu, is still at large at the time of this telephone interview.”

120 Lawmakers Sign Jonathan’s Impeachment Notice As Deputy House Leader Pleads

             

            More than 120 lawmakers have appended their signatures for the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan, immediately House reconvenes in December, Vanguard reports.

             Mohammed Zakari, chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, while reacting on it said “the noticeof impeachment was not on the order paper today but I’m not foreclosing that some other things took place.”On his part, Leo Ogor, deputy House Leader who urged members to jettison such plans, argued that the notice of impeachment is inconsequential, as the President had no hand in what transpired at the National Assembly.“The President is unaware so bringing it (impeachment) up is going to be defeated. 

       The President has done no wrong, impeachment should not even be part of the issue,” he pleaded.The lawmakers Vanguard further gathered that appended their signatures are of the APC extraction.
