Gov. Rotimi Amaechi insults Nollywood practitioners, called them products of circumstances/necessity
According to Nollywood practitioners who were present at the
Best of Nollywood Awards, which held last night in Port Harcourt, Rivers state,
the governor of the state Rotimi Amaechi practically insulted Nollywood
practitioners to their faces.According to a source, during his speech at the
award after he gave veteran actress Liz Benson a Lifetime Achievement Award,
Governor Rotimi said that people in Nollywood are products of
circumstances/necessity.
He said that the only reason they are in
Nollywood is because they couldn't find other jobs, that if they had, they
won't be actors. Rotimi said these actors studied sciences, law, medicine etc
but because they couldn't find jobs, they embraced Nollywood.
Present when he said this were Nollywood veterans including
Liz Benson, Kenneth Okonkwo, Shola Sobowale, Desmond Elliot, Moses Inwang,
Dickson Iroegbu, Bob-manuel Udokwu, Patience Ozokwor, Elvis Chuks, AY, Iyabo
Ojo, Emem Isong and many others.
Governor Rotimi also put two veteran actresses on blast. He
told the crowd that he gives Joke Silva and Kate Henshaw bags of money whenever
they come to Rivers state. And then claimed he was the one who encouraged Kate
Henshaw to go into politics.
Like that wasn't enough, Governor Amaechi then said she went
into politics for money.
Some of the Nollywood practitioners are angry about what the
governor said and have asked the AGN to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Bigbrother Hotshots:Teases For Birthday Boy- Alusa
Hapi birthday Alusa |
The Kenyan gentleman Alusa turned 34 years old today and his housemates
challenged the validity of his age as they teased him and said that he was most
probably 54! There was laughter as some of the housemates enjoyed a late
breakfast, teasing Alusa right through it. He did not take offence at the
teasing as he laughed along with the Hotshots.
JJ began
by saying that he would not be spending much time with Alusa and when Lilian fished for
the reason behind his decision, he said that it was because the birthday boy
was aging and did not want his aging to rub off him. He jokingly said that
Alusa would sometimes forget his name and Idris made a hilarious demonstration
of how he would get names mixed up. The table erupted with laughter!
Tayo moved
in to acknowledge Alusa’s birthday and screamed in his ear as Idris made fun of
him, saying that he could not hear him. More laughter was heard and soon Ellah began to
sing the “Happy birthday” song for Alusa and everybody around joined in and
thereafter spoiled him with hugs. Another joke followed as Idris loudly
explained that they had sung him a happy birthday song.
Tu Baba: Even As A Married Man, Women Still Run After Me
Despite his overwhelming success as an artiste and acquired
wealth, 2face Idibia's humilty is second to none.
As a good looking man, married to a star actress, Annie Macaulay, with 6 kids
to his credits, female fans still won't let Tuface be.
"It’s now a case of ‘Hello, thank you very much’, I try to make them know
that what they are looking for isn’t possible. I just say ‘Let me introduce you
to one of my single friends", he explains how he handles female fans.
Tubaba as he is often referred to had lived a rough life style and has two baby
mamas, Sunmbo Ajaba, who has 2 kids for him and Pero Adeniyi, who also has 3
children for the song star before he finally walked down the aisle with his
long time ex and baby mama too, Annie.
However, when the Benue state born star was asked why he doesn't show off his
wealth like the other celebs on social media, he said,
"For me it’s a matter of choice. It’s a matter of what makes you happy.
Some people have it and they don’t care to show it and some just do it so that people
will think they have it. Some people do it so that armed robbers will come and
visit them."
On the secret of his staying power, he said 'that question is difficult to
answer, I think it’s people that will answer that aspect for me. But for me, I
think it’s the talent , the grace of God and then the love of my fans."
Prosecutor wants 10 years in prison for Pistorius
The devastating hollow-point bullets fired by Oscar
Pistorius from his powerful handgun "ripped" through Reeva
Steenkamp's body, the chief prosecutor said Friday at the end of the athlete's
sentencing hearing, urging a judge to send him to prison for at least 10 years.
"When I think about that, it must have been
horrific," prosecutor Gerrie Nel said.
Judge Thokozile Masipa is expected to announce Pistorius'
sentence on Tuesday after she found him guilty last month of culpable homicide
for negligently killing Steenkamp, but acquitted him of murder.
Nel and chief defense lawyer Barry Roux presented their
final arguments for sentencing on Friday, summing up the testimony in the
weeklong hearing.
Nel said to Judge Masipa: "the minimum term that
society will be happy with is 10 years in prison."
It was the first time prosecutors have said what sentence
they are seeking for the double-amputee Olympic runner for shooting his
girlfriend.
Culpable homicide is comparable to manslaughter and Masipa
has a wide range of options on Pistorius' sentence. She could issue a suspended
jail sentence and a fine, order the 27-year-old Paralympic champion to go under
house arrest, or send him to prison for up to 15 years.
Nel said Pistorius should never be allowed to own a firearm
again after he was also convicted on another charge of unlawfully firing a gun
in a public place in a restaurant incident in early 2013, weeks before
Steenkamp's killing.
Pistorius' lawyers have argued for a three-year sentence of
occasional house arrest and community service and no jail time, saying
Pistorius has suffered emotionally and financially already, and would be under
duress in prison because of his disability as a double amputee.
Nel called a house arrest sentence "shockingly
disproportionate" to what Pistorius did in the pre-dawn hours of
Valentine's Day last year when he shot four times with his 9 mm pistol through
a toilet cubicle door in his home, hitting Steenkamp in the head, arm and hip.
"The deceased died in a small cubicle behind a closed
door," Nel said. "Three bullets ripped through her body."
Later, Nel said "this is a serious matter. The
negligence borders on intent."
Pistorius' chief defense lawyer Roux said the world-famous
athlete did not act with any "deviousness" when he killed Steenkamp,
and acted while feeling extremely vulnerable and anxious. Pistorius testified
he mistook Steenkamp for a dangerous intruder in his home and claimed the
shooting was a tragic accident.
"The accused's actions were to some extent dominated by
vulnerability and anxiety," Roux said to the red-robed judge who will
decide Pistorius' fate. "When you come to sentence ... you have to look at
the actions with his frame of mind."
Roux said there was also "no conscious
unlawfulness" from Pistorius. He described Pistorius' suffering, both
emotional and financial, since the Feb. 14, 2013 shooting.
"He's lost everything," Roux said of Pistorius,
once an inspirational figure who became the first amputee to run at the
Olympics in 2012. "He was an icon in the eyes of South Africans."
Pistorius at one point cried as he sat, his head bowed, on a
wooden bench behind his lawyer.
"He's not only broke, but he's broken.
There is nothing left of this man," Roux said. He said that Pistorius
"hasn't even the money to pay for legal expenses. He has nothing left.

Iggy Azalea Blasts Record Label for Selling Old Photo Shoot Images
The
beef between Snoop Dogg and Iggy Azalea may be
over, but it looks like the ‘Black Widow’ rapper might be starting a new one —
this time with the Australian division of her record label.
According to a series of tweets earlier today (Oct. 16),
Iggy called out the label for selling a photo taken during an old Complex
magazine photo shoot to Maxim Australia without consulting her first.
Im going to publicly say something to the australian
division of my record label right now because my message seems to be ignored
privately.
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) October 16,
2014
stop giving permission on my behalf for magazines to
purchase images of me that have already been printed in major publications for
covers.
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) October 16, 2014
australian label, i love you guys but you allowed my image
to be sold to cosmo Aus when i told you i would prefer for that not to happen.
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) October 16, 2014
and now this morning i see you've allowed maxim australia to
buy an image from a 2011 complex mag shoot and put it on the cover.
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) October 16,
2014
i think its awesome anyone would want me on the cover of a
magazine, but theres a right way to make that happen and the australian label
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) October 16,
2014
clearly aren't respecting my wishes. a magazine cover
deserves an accompanying photoshoot not a reused image.
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) October 16,
2014
The photo Iggy is referring to is a shot in which she’s
wearing a metallic gold one-piece swimsuit that only covers her lady parts. The
image was featured in Complex’s 10th Anniversary issue in 2012.
The same photo is used as the cover image of Maxim
Australia’s Hot 100 list — Iggy has topped the magazine’s list. The
only difference between the images is the background color. It’s gold in Maxim
while Complex uses a light blue.
While Maxim Australia did use the image, Iggy doesn’t blame
the magazine but only wishes she could could have done a proper shoot with
them.
maxim australia, thanks for the love and I'm sorry no one
asked me. i would have love to have given an interview & done a shoot with
u guys
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) October 16,

Her record label and Maxim Australia have yet to comment on
the matter.

Buhari; In self pity after paying N27.5m for APC nomination form.
Speaking at the National Secretariat of the APC yesterday
October16th, General Muhammadu Buhari who is running for president for the
fourth time, said he felt sorry for himself after buying the APC nomination
form for N27.5million
"It’s a pity I could not influence this amount to be put
down as in the case of ladies and the disable that intend to participate. I
always look left and right in our meetings but I could not read sympathy, so I
kept my trap. But I felt heavily sorry for myself because I don’t want to go
and ask somebody to pay for my nomination forms, because I always try to pay
myself, at least for the nomination. N27 million is a big sum, thankfully I
have personal relationship with the manager of my bank in Kaduna and I told him
that very soon the forms are coming, so, whether I am on red, or green or even
black please honour it otherwise I may lose the nomination."
"I was about to go to Kaduna this morning and I told
the Chairman but he said in that case, you better pick your form and keep a
straight face that means there is no excuse,” Mr. Buhari said.
Responding to Buhari, the APC National Chairman, John Oyegun
said the high price attached to the nomination form was “in order to separate
the men from the boys”.
