     Double trouble: Identical twins Robyn and Scarlet Atherton were born either side of midnight on November 9 and 10 and they are the latest in a long line of twins in the family.

    Identical twins Robyn and Scarlett Atherton will share many experiences in life but never the same birthday.For Robyn arrived at 11.55pm on November 9 weighing 4lbs 5oz while her 5lb 11oz sister was born 18 minutes later, the next day, at 12.13am.Mum Deborah, 35, said: “The closer it got to midnight, the more I joked they could have different birthdays, but I never thought it would happen.”

    There are already three sets of twins in Deborah's family - but none of them are identical.

She has sisters, an aunt and uncle and cousins who are all twins.Deborah, from Bolton, said: “When they are still young we will have a party on the same day, but if their want to celebrate on their own birthday when they are older, that will be fine too.“They are good babies, but they will only sleep together.”Doting dad Stuart, 35, a trainer at a medical legal company, has already created a memory box for his two little girls.

    The girl, thought to be from Ireland, was met with whistles and screams of encouragement from revellers before she even got going and one guy was eager for her to show off her moves as he shouted "wait for it, wait for it!".But once she began to dance it was soon clear why. At around just 13 years old, the youngster was clearly a master at her game as dominated the dance floor, which was a kitchen area in a modest house. And scores of Facebook users have been bowled over by her moves as it has been 'shared' more than 4,100 times and 'liked' more than 40,000 times. Summing up most of the comments, one user, Steven Baillie, wrote: "This is class!!"

Why are you crying Daddy? Heart-breaking final words of girl, 5, who died of a cardiac arrest

     'Why are you crying Daddy?' were the final words a five-year-old girl said to her distraught father as she died of a cardiac arrest brought on by an illness doctors failed to spot, an inquest has heard.

     Doctors sent Ward Alshammary home with a virus in January this year but two days later she was taken back to hospital after her condition rapidly deteriorated.It was found her irritable rash, sore throat and pain in her lung was actually bronchial pneumonia and doctors were unaware of a major infection between her lungs and chest wall.As they prepared to move her to paediatric intensive care from a high dependency unit, they gave her medication to tackle the bacterial infection but the youngster suffered a cardiac arrest.But just moments before she died, Ward gave her crying father Badr Alshammary a kiss and asked him why he was in tears. Speaking about how their lives had been turned upside down by her death, her father and mother Feraihah said they never thought they wouldn't come home from the hospital without their daughter.

     The couple, who used to live in Southampton, said: 'We were incredibly close to our daughter Ward.'Although she was only five years old, she cared for us, as much as we cared for her.'She loved her siblings and all of her friends at school. Ward loved going to school and she loved her teachers.'When she grew up she wanted to be a pediatrician - she even told the doctor at the hospital that was what she wanted to be.'After that first visit to the hospital, we thought she would be fine. Even when we went back on 21 January 2013, we did not expect to leave the hospital without our daughter.'Ward's death has affected our lives significantly: our family life, our studies, every day, even walking down the street.'We know that nothing can bring Ward back but we hope that knowledge of the circumstances in which Ward died, which we now understand in more detail, can prevent similar deaths in the future.'When she was first admitted, the little girl was examined and given an antihistamine drug before being sent home.And doctors at Southampton General Hospital, in Hampshire, told the family she would be well enough to mix with other children at school.This was despite being severe dehydration and she had not eaten or drunk for two days, Winchester Coroner's Court was told.She died in the early hours of January 22 after being readmitted and concerned staff had called in senior pediatric consultant Dr Peter Wilson.She suffered a cardiac arrest thought to have been brought on by a flood of toxins into her system and having suffered septic shock.

11 drown as bus plunge into river in Akwa Ibom State

    Eleven passengers, including a mother and her two female children, died in Abak local government area of Akwa Ibom State when a bus conveying passengers from Port Harcourt to Uyo, plunged in river near the Nigerian Army Barracks, Ibagwa.All, except two of the occupants’ drowned. It was gathered that the Toyota Hiace bus belonging to To & Fro Transport Company was hit by a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) making it to plunge into the river.Witnesses told The Nation that the SUV was on top speed and its driver was apparently trying to avoid a bad spot leading to its collision with the bus.On realizing the calamity he caused, the driver abandoned his vehicle and took to his heels while the helpless onlookers could do nothing about the bus which had sunk immediately it fell off the bridge.It was not until Friday afternoon that the state police command in conjunction with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) went with a crane from the construction giant, Julius Berger to haul out the vehicle with all the dead.

Nollywood stars bury Clems Onyeka amidst uncontrollable tears

     It was a season of tears, pains and anguish at the burial of Nollywood actor Clems Onyeka, who was killed by a stray bullet last month in Asaba, Delta state during a police and bank robbers fracas.The deceased actor was buried today at his father's compound in Ikeduru, Imo state.According to the information gathered almost all the Nollywood actors were present at the burial. As the star was been committed to mother earth, the compound witnessed so much crowd that people could not have access to his graveside.Some of the Nollywood stars present and in mourning state were Ken Eric, Cha Cha Ekeh, Queen Nwokoye, Anita Joseph, Angela Okorie, Chinwe Owoh, Walter Anger, Ikem Chude, and numerous marketers and producers such as, PJ Movies, Best Movies, Great Movies and many others.During the burial, top Igbo comedian, Uche Ogbuagu presented the sum of N500, 000 to his Clems' widow, while his old school mate donated N250, 000 to the welfare of his family.

Three Construction Workers From Pakistan And india Kidnapped In President Jonathan’s Local Govt Area

                                                                

         Unknown gunmen have kidnapped three expatriates working for a construction company in Ogbia local government council in Bayelsa State. Two eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the expatriates were seized at Emakalakala town in Ogbia local council area, a few miles from the construction company’s base. The sources said two of the victims, Muntaz Ahmad and Ghatar Abdul are nationals of Pakistan while a third victim, Sririri Rao is an Indian man, the source added that the victims were employees of the construction firm, Elmerit. 

       “They were kidnapped at gunpoint,” one source told SaharaReporters. He added that the abducted men were working on road projects in the area. “They were then dragged into a waiting boat which sped away into the surrounding creeks,” the source added.  When our correspondent contacted a security agent in the state, the security source said he was not in a position yet to confirm the kidnap. “I have heard something, but we cannot confirm until we receive a formal report that this happened,” said the source.Via.saharareporters

Plane Crashlands in Ilorin, 63 Escape Death

                                 

          Fifty nine passengers and four crew members escaped death by the whiskers on Saturday when an Overland plane from Abuja overshot the runway at the Ilorin airport.A statement by the General Manager, Public Affairs, of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Fan Ndubuoke, on Saturday, said no life was lost in the incident, which he added, was already being investigated.The statement read, “An Overland flight 1186, an ATR 72 aircraft with Registration number 5N-BPG from Abuja airport to Ilorin, carrying fifty nine passengers and four crew members,veered off the runway at low speed after a normal landing at the Ilorin Airport.

        “The incident which occurred today Saturday, November 29, at 4.45pm, has no casualty recorded. However, the Accident and Prevention Bureau in conjunction with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has begun an investigation into the cause of the incident.“The authority wishes to use this medium to reassure Nigerians that safety of the traveling public is still paramount and cannot be compromised.”A source told one of our correspondents that three professors –a former Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ishaq Oleyee, Prof. Lanre Badmus and one unnamed professor — were on board the flight.

       One of the passengers, Mr. Ayuba Balami, commended the pilot for showing great experience by maneuvering the plane to safety.“Our Ilorin passengers have since collected their baggage and gone home while the Ibadan Airport bound passengers will continue on Overland Airways to Ibadan Airport.”

Pregnant Woman Loses Eye After St. Louis Cops shot her in the face

                                                                   

        A pregnant woman who says she wasn’t even protesting lost her left eye after police on Tuesday in St. Louis shot her in the face with a bean bag round, her family said Friday.

       Dornella Conner, 24, is recovering after being blinded Tuesday and possibly losing some sight in her right eye as well, dad Donnell Conner told NBC News.He said his daughter and her boyfriend had driven to a gas station in St. Louis early Tuesday to fill up. The area remained on edge hours after a grand jury decided Monday night not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of teenager Michael Brown. Police were reportedly responding to gunshots fired in the area when they encountered Conner and her boyfriend, De’Angelas Lee, who was driving.

       Conner said that her boyfriend was trying to maneuver around police, while police say he was driving at them. St. Louis County police told NBC News on Friday that Lee was arrested and charged with second-degree assault on law enforcement.Dornella Conner wrote on Facebook that she and her boyfriend weren’t protesting that morning or trying to cause a disturbance.Her father said she had no intention of being aggressive with police either and didn’t deserve to get hit. The bean bag round broke through the windshield, shattering glass that also hit her in the face, he added. “If a vehicle is coming at you, wouldn’t you take aim at the person who is driving the vehicle, not at the passenger’s side?” Donnell Conner asked.

        He said surgeons had to pull about 20 pellets from her face. Now, he’s worried that she will no longer be able to work and support her two children — plus the third on the way. The family said they are focusing on her recovery for now, and not thinking about any possible legal recourse.“She’s just trying to stay strong,” Donnell Conner said, adding that she has “no ill feelings” toward the officer who shot her.But he said the officers could have “done so many other things” instead of fire directly at his daughter. “For my daughter to be shot in the face and lose her eye is uncalled for,” he added.This is terrible. We’re praying that Dornella is able to recover full sight in her right eye but the police need to pay for her injuries and lost compensation. Imo Film Academy Collapses Barely A Week After Commissioning

                                                                       

       Following the last weekend’s collapse of the multi-million naira Imo Film Academy, along Egbu Road Owerri, the state commissioner for Information, Engr. Chidi Ibe has explained that the building collapsed by accident and not as a result substandard material.The building constructed and commissioned by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State penultimate weekend (November 14, 2014) at the premises of the Imo State College of Advanced Professional Studies, ICAPS, collapsed barely one week after it was commissioned by the governor, thereby fueling speculations that the building was one of the governor’s many substandard projects in the state.

   But, speaking during his maiden press briefing, the commissioner said the building collapsed because a trailer carrying heavy equipment fell on the building, thereby pulling it down.According to him, “there was nothing like collapsed building. It was a trailer carrying a heavy generator and while trying to drop the equipment behind the Film Academy,  one of the trailer’s tyres pulled and the trailer fell on the building. 

     The impact of the trailer’s fall led to the collapse of the building”.Ibe expressed surprise that many journalists went about publishing the story that it collapsed as a result of its purported substandard nature without verifying from any member of the government.He used the opportunity to call on journalists to endeavour to be more objective and sincere especially now that the nation was seriously preparing for general elections.On Governor Okorocha’s 2015 ambition, the commissioner said the governor was not so desperate to return back as governor of Imo State but said his only ambition was to become the president of the country.According to him, despite the fact that the governor had set his eyes on the presidency, more than 90 percent of the people of the state want him to complete his second term and do more for the people of the state.

Prison break gone bad in Oya State prison as robbery suspect gets stuck while trying to escape his cell

                                                                 

          A 35 year old robbery suspect got stuck in a hole as he tried to escape his cell from his cell in Oyo. The inmate, Femi Akanji was caught after burgling a shop on the 12th of November 2014..He narrated to the Tribune why he decided to escape  from the cell to avoid the trouble he had put himself into, unknown to him that he was complicating matter. After my two cell mates had slept, he started using his hands to dig the wall silently in the dead of the night. I started from a point where i noticed a crack in the cell. When some bricks fell, i further used them in digging and after i had created a hole,

         I pushed my head into it and tried to escape before dawn. Unfortunately for me, i got stuck, so i shouted. My cry brought the policemen on duty towards the cell and woke my co-inmates up. That was how i was rescued and secured till i was brought to Ibadan.”Now, i know that crime does not pay. If God should save me from the current situation i am in now, i will never venture into crime again in my life. I have realized that whatever is acquired fraudulently or any ill-gotten wealth does not last. I have my time and life. If i had been contented with my little business and had not engaged in crime, i would not have lost my belongings which now serve as part of the exhibits recovered.”

Seven drug traffickers nabbed on one flight excrete 8.7kg cocaine

                                                                        

       Forty-nine-year-old Fred Obi was about to board an Ethiopian Air flight from Abuja to Tel Aviv, Israel with a strange cargo allegedly concealed in his stomach when the law caught up with him. He had ingested 1.594kg of cocaine.But he was not the only one boarding that same flight with the intention of transporting narcotics they had ingested on November 22, 2014 when they were arrested by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agencyat the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.Also arrested were Ekechi Ferdinand, 36; Okonkwo Paul, 20; Azubuogu Obumneme, 30; Okechi Anthony, 34; Anozie Henry, 34 and Okafor Francis, 51.According to Punch,NDLEA spokesperson, 

     Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, confirmed that the raid which was headed by the agency’s commander at the Abuja Airport, Mr. Hamisu Lawan, would turn out to be a revealing one.The suspects, who were said to have been arrested and isolated, were soon made to excrete the drug they had ingested.“The last of the suspects eventually finished excreting the drugs in his stomach this morning (Thursday, November 26),” Ferdinand excreted 1.616kg of cocaine, Paul – 1.103kg, Obumneme – 1.450kg, Anthony – 935 grammes while Henry exctreted 874 grammes of cocaine. The oldest of the suspects, Francis, on his part excreted 1.167kg.All the suspects, except Obi, were said to have Hong Kong as the destination on their tickets.NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, said that the arrest of the suspects was an added victory to the war against drug trafficking in the country.He said, 

      Having seven suspected drug traffickers on a single flight is a reflection of the desperation of drug cartels.“But this will prove to them that the NDLEA has the capacity to stop drug trafficking no matter what method they employ.“Fortunately for the suspects as well, our arrest has saved their lives because for the suspects heading to Hong Kong, it is clearly stated in their visas that drug trafficking in Hong Kong attracts the death penalty. Nigeria has equally been saved from an embarrassment their arrest would have caused if they were caught over there.”

Gunmen kidnap Nsukka town union president

                                                           

       Mr Augustine Alumona, the President, Nsukka Town Development Union, has been kidnapped by gunmen.Alumona was kidnapped on the new Opi-Ugwugo Nike road on his way to Enugu on Thursday.

Ebola: Sperm can carry Ebola for 82 days -WHO

                                                                     

        Sperm can carry the Ebola virus for at least 82 days, the World Health Organization said Friday, urging men recovering from the disease to use condoms for three months after the onset of symptoms.“Because of the potential to transmit the virus sexually during this time, they should maintain good personal hygiene after masturbation, and either abstain from sex (including oral sex) for three months after onset of symptoms, or use condoms if abstinence is not possible,” the WHO said in a statement.In four studies, on a total of 43 patients, three men who had recovered from Ebola still had the live virus in their semen 40 days, 61 days and 82 days respectively after the onset of symptoms.

       The WHO said that no case of sexual transmission of Ebola had been documented, and that it was unclear whether semen that tests positive for Ebola is actually infectious.The four studies were carried out in different countries, with the first dating back more than 30 years.Ebola is highly contagious but, even if a person is infected, the virus can only be passed on once symptoms appear and only through direct contact with bodily fluids.Symptoms of Ebola include fever, headache, diarrhea, vomiting and in some cases bleeding

She then returned six weeks later when she was arrested upon arrival.Judge Murray Creed said that what the mother had done was "plainly a serious matter", giving her a six month prison sentence suspended for two years.Creed said that the children had been brought up in "a satisfactory and supportive way throughout their lives so far"."You've cared for them against a difficult background", he said. Teenager who had no idea she was pregnant gives birth on the bathroom floor having thought she had food poisoning

                                                               

        Struck by an overwhelming sense of nausea, Gemma Armstrong thought she was suffering a bout of food poisoning.Returning from work last Monday the 19-year-old made a dash for the bathroom.

         But rather than a nasty case of gastroenteritis, the teenager was shocked to be in the early stages of labour.Miss Armstrong, from Alness, Ross-Shire, Scotland, had no idea she was pregnant.She developed no tell-tale bump and just a month before giving birth to her surprise daughter Orla, the teenager had worn a bikini on a beach holiday in Malta – where partner Daniel Degan works. Gemma Armstrong gave birth on the bathroom floor – after having no idea she was pregnant and believing she was suffering from food poisoning. Here, she is pictured with daugher Orla Degan.With her partner Daniel Degan abroad, Miss Armstrong turned to his mother Katrina and sister Eilidh.The pair delivered their granddaughter and niece on the bathroom floor of their Alness home.Miss Armstrong said: ‘I had absolutely no idea.  ‘I made Sunday dinner the night before and was up all night with sickness and thought I had given myself food poisoning.‘I went to work on Monday morning, came back at 5pm, went to the toilet and that is when my partner’s mother realised that I was having a baby and she delivered her on the bathroom floor with the help of my partner’s sister.’Mr Degan flew home immediately after receiving a call to say he had become a father.Miss Armstrong described the two-hour labour as a ‘real family effort’.Ms Degan helped her throughout, and his sister cut the umbilical cord.                                                             

      A paramedic team arrived at the Degan’s home for ‘the last little push’, but as far as Miss Armstrong is concerned, Ms Degan was her chief midwife.Orla, who weighed 7lbs 9oz, was perfectly healthy when she was born. Mother and baby were taken to hospital for a check-up and spent two nights on the maternity ward while experts monitored their progress.‘The paramedics took us in because it was such a shock for everyone,’ Miss Armstrong said.‘I did everything you’re not supposed to do when you’re pregnant,’ she explainedTwo months before giving birth she enjoyed a trip to Alton Towers Theme Park and flew on holiday just a month before her daughter’s arrival.  ‘I had no big bump, I was in a bikini on the beach in Malta a month ago,’ she said.Although still in shock, Miss Armstrong and partner Mr Degan, 24, have fallen in love with their first child, who they call their ‘little surprise’.She described her baby as ‘perfect’, adding she just sleeps and eats and only wakes twice in the night.

        ‘I just sit and stare at her, everyone is so delighted,’ she said. Miss Armstrong announced the birth of her daughter on her Facebook page as the ‘best and most surprising case of food poisoning in the world. Not the toilet trip I expected’.Mr Degan had planned to come home from Malta early as a surprise on November 19.But Miss Armstrong said she got her surprise in first with the arrival of Orla on November 17.They have been overwhelmed by the generosity of friends and family, they said.‘She is a little celebrity,’ Miss Armstrong said. ‘Everybody seems to know about Orla and everybody has been so good to us, it’s amazing.‘We had nothing for a baby as people usually have nine months to prepare and we didn’t even have nine hours, but now we have everything as we have had so many presents.’Miss Armstrong was lucky enough not to worry about telling her work colleagues that she had to take last-minute maternity leave as her father is the boss of the company.

    More than 250,000 animals are being lined up for slaughter as Nepal embarks on a two-day religious festival where buffalo, birds and goats are sacrificed to appease a Hindu goddess.Millions of Hindus flock to the ceremony, which is held every five years at the temple of Gadhimai, the goddess of power, in Bariyarpur, Nepal, near the Indian border. The festival is 'kicked off' with the ritual slaughter of five thousand buffalo in a field near the temple, after which two days of ritual animal slaughter takes place.

     Animal rights activists such as PETA are campaigning to halt the mass animal-slaughter, but despite their efforts, the organisers of the festival has promised that this year will be the biggest yet. About 2.5 million devotees  have turned out for the festival, according to local government official Yogendra Prasad Dulal, who said it was 'impossible to estimate' the total number of animals sacrificed so far. 'It has been a grand day,' Mangal Chaudhary, head priest at a the Gadhimai temple said. 'The buffalo sacrifice has ended, but we will continue the rituals with goats and other animals for one more day,'

     On the first day, worshippers slaughtered more than 6,000 buffaloes, which were coralled into holding pens in the fields, along with at least 100,000 goats and other animals, Chaudhary said.The festivities will continue on Saturday when at least another 100,000 animals will die in the name of goddess Gadhimai. More than 80 per cent of Nepal's 27 million people are Hindus, but unlike most of their counterparts in neighbouring India, they frequently sacrifice animals to appease deities during festivals.

     Authorities deployed hundreds of police personnel to make sure there were no clashes between activists and the devotees.'It is a ritual connected with people's faith,' said Yogendra Dulal, an assistant administrator of the Bara district, where the temple is located. 'We can't hurt their sentiments and ban the practice.'  Worshippers believe the animal sacrifice, meant to appease Gadhimai, the Hindu goddess of power, brings them luck and prosperity.The ritual began at dawn with a ceremonial 'pancha bali' or the sacrifice of five animals, comprising a rat, a goat, a rooster, a pig and a pigeon.

Thousands of goats and chickens will also be sacrificed before the festival ends on Saturday, temple officials said. The heads of the sacrificed animals will be buried in a huge pit while the animal hides and skin will be sold to traders who have contracted to buy them.'It is not proper to kill animals in the name of religion,' Uttam Kafle, of rights group Animal Nepal, told Reuters by telephone from the site.'We are trying to convince the people that they can worship at the shrine peacefully and without being cruel to animals.'India's Supreme Court recently asked the government to stop the illegal movement of animals into Nepal for the ceremony.

          The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on  Friday 28, 2014, secured the conviction of a top prison officer as Justice J.J Majebi of the Kogi State High Court, Okene, convicted and sentenced Joseph Friday Idachaba, Deputy Controller of Prisons, to 7 years imprisonment for offences bordering on obtaining money by false pretence. The convict is to pay the sum of N1, 403,114.09 in restitution to Nigeria Prison Service.Arraigned in 2012 on a three-count charge, the convict was found guilty on count three of the charge by the trial judge, who, however, acquitted him on two remaining counts.Count three of the charge reads: "That you Joseph Friday Idachaba (m) being a deputy comptroller of Nigeria Prisons Service, and Onoja D. Ruth (IP) also a staff of Nigeria Prison Service, sometime between July, 2012 to February 2013 at Lokoja, Kogi State did with intent to defraud obtained N1,403,114.09 only from the Federal Government of Nigeria via the Nigeria Prison Service with pretence that same amount was the payment of monthly salaries from Nigeria Prison Service, which amount was credited into the UBA Plc account No 2054047736 belonging to one Opia Mohammed Ugbade (now at large), through NIGSS electronic fund transfer (NEFT) between July 2012-to February 2013, that the said Opia Mohammed Ugbade’s name found in the Nigeria Prison Service electronic payroll is not a staff of the Service which pretence you knew to be false and hereby committed an offence contrary to section 1(1) paragraphs A&B and punishable under section 1(3) of the Advance Free Fraud and Other Related Offences Act."
