Today March 5th is the 78th birthday of former
president Olusegun Obasanjo.Former military head of state, Muhammadu Buhari has rolled
in his congratulatory message to Baba (as he is fondly called).
Buhari describes Obasanjo as courageous who is not
afraid of telling the truth. We should not forget that Obasanjo had earlier
endorsed Buhari as the man for the presidential job come May 29, after he
predicted his grand-slide win of the 2015 polls.Buhari praised Obasanjo in a report by PM News, saying that
Obasanjo is a true nationalist whose commitment to democracy and good
governance are worthy of praise. He further mentioned that though Obasanjo is a
controversial politician, his patriotism to the country is undeniable.
Meanwhile, Obasanjo has took to the field yesterday March 4
to celebrate how agile he is even at the age 78. At MKO stadium in Kuto
Abeokuta Ogun state, a football competition was held to commemorate the OBJ’s
birthday. The match was between OBJ football team and Ogun State Executive Team
which was led by the Ogun state governor- Ibikunle Amosun.OBJ football team won the game with 2 goals 1, with Obasanjo
with jersey number 78 scoring the two goals for his team.Obasanjo on the game said, “I am satisfied and fulfilled,
even at my age I cherish sport, because it is relevant to health and we should
all endeavour to engage in sporting activities”.
