A woman arrested for slashing the throats of her two-year-old daughter and six-month-old twins said she tried to kill her crying babies so they wouldn’t disturb her husband, Daily Mail reports.
Christina Booth, 29, said she hit ‘breaking point’ when she put her children to bed and all three began crying at her home in Olympia, Washington. And Mrs Booth, who suffers from postpartum depression, told police that she went downstairs and grabbed a kitchen knife before slashing their throats because her husband, Army Staff Sergeant Thomas Booth, got ‘very annoyed when the children cry’ and if she killed the children ‘the house would be quiet for Thomas’. Olympia police Lieutenant Jim Costa said that conversations with Sgt Booth and neighbours had shed light on a family in stress and ‘friction in the household’.
‘A lot of dynamics pushed [Mrs Booth] over the brink,’ he said.A judge set bail at $3million for her three counts of attempted murder. The children were said to be stable on Sunday following surgery at hospital. They have been placed in custody of state Child Protective Services.‘During the interview, Christina broke down crying several times, yelled about Thomas never helping with the kids and vomited once. Christina made the comment “they will be quiet now” several times,’ detectives wrote. Sgt Booth told police that when he went upstairs he found his wife in her underwear and the children gushing blood. He said he screamed at his wife to call 911 while he wrapped his children’s wounds to stop the bleeding.
