Security Guard and a Trader Nab By National Drug Law Enforcement Agency

The Enugu State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested two suspected drug traffickers with 5.1 kilogrammes of powdery substances that tested positive for cocaine.

It was learnt that the agency’s operatives arrested the suspects – Okoye Matthew and Dominic Igwe – at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, during the inward screening of passengers on board an Ethiopian airline.
Our correspondent gathered that 34-year-old Matthew, a security guard in South Africa, was caught with the drug weighing 1.5kg.
The guard told investigators that he had brought the drug hidden in a handbag for his friend.
He said, “I work as a security guard in South Africa. It was my friend in Nigeria that requested the drug. My role is to bring it and he will reward me.”
In his confession, Igwe, 29, said he was sponsored to traffick the 3.6kg drug concealed inside folders from Brazil by a baron whose name he had yet to divulge to the operatives.

The Ebonyi-born trader added that he had wanted to use the expected proceed to clear his debts and boost his business.
“I am a trader but I am unable to pay my rent. My capital has dwindled over the years to the extent that I am in debts. I was sponsored to Sao-Paulo, Brazil to bring cocaine. I regret my involvement,” he said.
The NDLEA Commander at the airport, Mr. Udoh Nsikak-Abasi, said the arrests were made after a thorough search.
He said, “Matthew was arrested with 1.5kg of cocaine hidden inside hand bags while Igwe was found in possession of 3.6kg of cocaine concealed inside three folders. Mathew holds passport number A04483481 while Igwe has A02375991 as his passport number. The total weight of the seized drugs is 5.1kg.”
While commending the officials for the interception, the agency’s boss, Mr. Ahmadu Giade, directed the Enugu Airport Command to beef up its security checks.
He said, “This arrest is a welcome development because we must eradicate illicit drugs from our country. I want the commander to intensify security checks and ensure the interception of narcotics at the Enugu Airport.”

Mother Theresa-- The First Lady

Dame Patience Jonathan was on Wednesday decorated as “Mother Theresa of Today’’ by the Ladies of St. Mulumba (LSM) of the Catholic Church of Nigeria.
According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Dame Patience Jonathan was decorated because of the humanitarian works done through her pet project, the Women for Change and Development Initiative (W4CDI).

Ngor Nwachukwu, the President of LSM, decorated her when she led its members on a courtesy visit to the first lady at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

“W4CDI has recorded positive changes in the society; there is a strong wind of change blowing off poverty, disease, hunger.

“And bringing along empowerment and sustaining hope for women in particular and to all in general.”

Nwachukwu, who also commended the first lady for her support to the president, described her role as a “family model’’ in line with the advocacy of Pope Francis.

In her remark, Jonathan commended them for their visit, saying  it was a sign of solidarity and support, especially for the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

She also thanked the group for its acknowledgment of her “modest contributions to the society with this decoration as Mother Theresa of Today.

“It was Mother Theresa of old who said ‘being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody I think that is a much greater hunger, a greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat’.

“This saying has been my propelling force for the advocacy and policy dialogue to enhance the status of women in the society.

“Giving hope to the despaired, relief for the sick, training and empowerment for youths and women.’’

Jonathan reiterated the need to imbibe peace in their daily endeavours.

“As wives, mothers and sisters, we have important roles to play in moving Nigeria forward on the path of peace and development.

“As mothers and role models, we owe it a duty to our families and our nation to build our homes as well as the needed change in our communities,’’ she said.

NAN reports that other past decorations on the first lady included Epitome of Justice and Peace, Phenomenal Woman of Substance, Dorcas and Esther of Old, among others.

The LSM, which was established in 1978, has more than 10,000 members across the country.

Politics: Acting Governor of Adamawa State Sacked

An Abuja Federal High court has sacked the acting Governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri from office and ordered the immediate reinstatement of the former deputy governor of the state, Mr Bala Ngilari, (pictured above), as governor.

Ngilari had on July 14th tendered a letter of resignation to the state House of Assembly during the impeachment process of his ex boss, Murtala Mohammed who was impeached on July 15th

Delivering his judgement today, the presiding judge said the letter of resignation sent by Mr. Ngilari on July 14, 2014 to the House Speaker was invalid, null and void as it breached the provisions of sections 306(1), (2) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution because it was addressed to the Speaker and acted upon by the House of Assembly. He went further to state that the letter was also written at a time when the impeached state Governor, Murtala Nyako was still in office and so the letter should have been written to him and not to the speaker

Looking great and dazzling an ex is always high up on your 'to do' list following a break up, (shortly after the Ben and Jerry's stage), and Selena Gomez just showed the world how it's done.
The brunette hottie ditched the legs and boobs rule for the night at a Rudderless film screening in Los Angeles and flaunted all in a bright red dress.
Showing off her toned legs, the star stole the show in the tiny number, while flaunting her huge cleavage with a plunging front.

Bieber's rumoured on and off kept the look simple with no jewellery and tiny black stilettos, letting the eye-catching dress speak volumes on its own.

She posted a snap on Instagram after the screening of the Samuel Goldwyn Film's new hit, and added the caption: "I genuinely feel cheesy sometimes promoting certain projects but this one.. I'm not in a whole lot of but I can't even begin to express how beautiful this movie is.
"And every single person in it. Parents, peeps -this one is absolutely touching. SO proud of Bill Macy! Check it out. #RUDDERLESS."

APC to GEJ- Stop Disgracing Nigeria on 5.7m Arms Deal

APC  has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to  address Nigerians on the serial embarrassments to which his administration is subjecting the country in the comity of nations, after another seizure of $5.7million of Nigerian arms money by the South African authorities

The party  issued statement in Lagos yesterday by its national publicity secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the issues surrounding the first seizure of $9.3million were yet to be resolved before this latest scandal, wondering why the government would want to turn Nigeria to a rogue nation by engaging in money laundering and other acts of illegality, thus devaluing the currency of every Nigerian. Mr President, Nigerians are urging you to please come clean on these cash-for-arms scandals. They want you to answer critical questions on the legality of your administration’s repeated conduct. They want to know the identities of the two Nigerians who were arrested with an Israeli in South Africa over the first illegal deal, especially since the Israeli has been named.“Nigerians want to know why the purported arms procurement for the government is done illegally between private companies that are neither known nor registered for dealing in arms; and why are the movement of monies not transparently documented for what they really are, if they are truly for legitimate purposes?“They want to know whether indeed the weapons which the government is seeking so furiously to procure are for the battle against Boko Haram or for a sinister motive, considering the desperation of your administration to continue to rule at all costs and by any means possible.“They want to know whether every Nigerian should begin to fear what will happen in the days and weeks leading to the forthcoming general elections, against the backdrop of your administration and party’s do-or-die politics.“Mr President, if the funds involved in the latest seizure were sent through bank transfer, can the government explain why Oritsejafor’s plane was stuffed with cash and transported to South Africa?”
